How to Coach Yourself out of a tough situation...

Hayley Carr - Life Coach - How to Coach Yourself out of a tough situation...

…and Be Your Own Best Coach

Sometimes I chat with people who talk themselves into staying in a difficult situation. How do you do that? Well, When you’ve been there for a while, it can be really difficult to feel like you can get out of it on your own, and instead of focusing on getting out of it, we start to question why it’s happening in the first place.

Well, You can do it all yourself, absolutely, and that’s what this weeks video is all about. I am a huge advocate for you being the boss, and Director of your own life, and am a totally confessed preacher of the idea that you already have all the answers you will ever need, inside you. All you ever really need is to ask the right questions of yourself to find the right answers for you.

When solving problems Einstein said - ‘You cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it.’ Focussing on the problem is not where you will find the answer, you will only make the problem bigger and more complex.

The answer is not to ask why but for example, how. I give you three questions you can ask yourself to help you get out of tough situations and be your own best coach.

Check out today’s video, and start asking yourself the right questions.

Here is the content from the video:

Have you ever felt stuck like you're completely unable to move forward but you could not tell what exactly it was that was causing you to be that way. You might hear folks say things sometimes like why does this keep happening to me or why can't I lose the weigh, or, why am I so tired or why can I just find a partner who wants to be with me. Why, why, why, why, why…

…You know what, asking why is often the way we think we're going to be able to get out of a situation, but it's not the way we actually going to find the answer to getting out of it, asking why is simply just a way for you to beat yourself up about what you did to get there. It's a trick we play on ourselves to fool us into thinking we're dealing with a situation, when really we're avoiding dealing with it,

You might say 'Why does my brain do that' - Stop it!

Einstein said, you cannot solve a problem with the same level of thinking that created it.

What that means is that when you're in a situation in your life that you don't want to be,

focusing on the problem is not where you'll find the answer.

You only make the problem bigger and more complex and asking why something is the way it is, is focusing exactly on the problem.

For example, when someone asks a question like Why can't I find a partner who just wants to be with me, the answer will be something along the lines of, maybe there's something wrong with me or I don't have the time to look after a relationship or there just aren't enough fish in the sea. We don't even say that anymore. Anyway you get my point.

We come up with all these reasons for why something is the way it is and we can be really negative instead of doing something about the situation

by asking 'how'.

This is how you get out of the situation by being your very own best coach and asking yourself the right questions, ask yourself

  1. How you can change this.

  2. In how many ways can you change this and

  3. Where can you find the solution to this problem

By asking these three questions your brain goes out of beat up mode and into solution mode. So you can move forward easily. So go ahead and take some action now. I want you to write down the big areas in your life where you feel the most stuck, and then go ahead and ask yourself these three questions, and I want you to come up with five answers for each.

Number one, How can I get more of what I want.

Number two, in how many ways can I solve this problem.

And number three, where will I find a solution to this problem.

And if you want to be really tricky. Ask yourself in how many ways. Have I already solved this problem.
