How often do you ask for a pay rise in your work? Do you even ask, or do you wait for review time? And when you do, are you grovelling at the feet of the boss lady in front of you, hoping for some extra crumb, or do you have them chomping at the bit to hand you more money and make you stay?

Whether you work of yourself, or someone else, todays video is about influence.

You are not stuck at an income level – you are sitting at the boundary conditions of your mindset.

Here’s how to have them BEGGING to give you a pay rise.

Here is the content form the video:

So you want to pay rise, let's talk about how you can do it ethically and how you can get the person to feel compelled to want you to have a pay rise, it's just the same as when you're doing a sale. Essentially, you have to sell yourself, but to do this, ethically, you have to put yourself in the shoes of the person who's giving away the promotion, or the pay rise.

You have to really sit in their seat, and ask yourself..

What is it that they need?
What do they want to see?
What's going to make it an easy Yes button for them?

And the key is value, finding out what they value, finding out what's most important to them and eliciting that.

Now, if the role’s most important thing was really high quality customer service. You wouldn't go into that role and focus all your efforts into getting the sale because that's not what's most important to that boss. If they're most important value is getting the sale, it is a completely different scenario; you show up differently, you speak differently to your customers but eliciting what their values are is really important in order to be able to fulfill that for them.

Trust me no boss wants to hear about how hard you work, and how good you are without knowing what you can do them in the future.

The way to elicit someone's values, which is what's most important to them, is simply ask them.

Ask before you ask them for the payrise,

What's important to you in this work, what is most important result you can get, what is most important to you in an employee, what is the most important to you in a manager?'

Ask them, find out directly, and then go ahead and be that person, to the very best that you can. Or in the negotiation ask the question and make sure that you can answer with absolute conviction that you can actually fulfill those values and dedicate yourself to fulfilling those values for that person. Remember if somebody is wanting to give a pay rise, perhaps even not wanting to give it, you're just just asking for it, you have to put yourself in their shoes and remember, that's a very big decision that they have to make.

They're going to be outputting a whole lot more money and depending on you to get results. So, honour that, show up to it and be that type of person. And remember that the best way that you can influence them or encourage them to be on the same page as you is by being a shining beacon of exactly what it is that they want.

So helping them and showing them as much as you can that you are actually going to deliver on the promises or that you actually have and here's how you can do even more.

I want to bring everything back to…

What does your boss value the most and how can you fulfil it?

Stay Curious, you ARE the Omega.
